Alabama's Ryan Coleman-Williams Stuns Fans With Unexpected Spring Role

Alabama's rising star Ryan Coleman-Williams steps up as a key leader and receiver, ready to redefine the team's dynamic this spring.

Alabama's wide receiver, Coleman-Williams, is stepping into the spotlight this spring with some notable changes. Adding his mother’s last name, Coleman, and switching his jersey from No. 2 to No. 1, he’s embracing both a fresh identity and heightened expectations.

Coleman-Williams is the seasoned veteran in Alabama's 2026 wide receiver lineup, boasting 1,251 snaps over two seasons, according to Pro Football Focus. This experience brings a hefty responsibility, something head coach Kalen DeBoer is keenly aware of as spring practice intensifies.

"He's embraced the leadership role," DeBoer remarked on March 10. "His energy and enthusiasm are evident to everyone.

But it’s his work ethic that stands out. He’s always been dedicated, but now he’s channeling that effort with purpose.

Watching him grow as a leader is impressive."

Last season, Coleman-Williams faced some challenges, with Germie Bernard emerging as the consistent force in Alabama’s passing game. Despite this, Coleman-Williams managed 689 receiving yards and four touchdowns, averaging just under 50 yards per game.

Yet, DeBoer noted significant progress. "He’s reached a new level, and both our team and offense need that boost," DeBoer added.

Alabama will wrap up its spring practice with the A-Day game on Saturday, April 11, kicking off at 1 p.m. CT. Coleman-Williams is poised to make a significant impact as he leads the charge into the new season.
