The Alabama Crimson Tide have faced their share of challenges this season, with key players navigating setbacks. As we look ahead, one player stands out as a potential game-changer.
The 2025 season for Alabama’s football program began with high hopes, but just before kickoff, things took a dramatic turn. Fifth-year senior nose tackle Tim Keenan suffered an injury requiring surgery, leaving a significant gap in Alabama’s defensive line.
Keenan was the heart of the defense, and without him, the team struggled to find its footing. Veteran linebacker Deontae Lawson was present but still recovering from an ACL injury, impacting his speed and effectiveness.
In Keenan’s absence, the spotlight was on defensive tackle Jeremiah Beaman to step up. During spring camp, Coach Wommack expressed his satisfaction with Beaman’s progress, noting his impressive performance in the previous season’s bowl game and his continued development.
“Really pleased with Beam and the steps that he has taken this spring,” Wommack shared. “He’s athletic and consistent, which is what we need. I’m excited about his trajectory.”
Now that Beaman has moved past the toughest part of his recovery, the focus is on gaining more reps and earning his spot in the rotation. Wommack recently commented, “I think he's hungry. You feel the sense of urgency from him."
Both Keenan and Lawson have weighed in on who they believe will step up in the 2026 season. While Lawson pointed to linebacker QB Reese, Keenan had his eyes on Beaman.
The stage is set for Beaman to have a standout season. Last year didn’t go as planned, but with a clean bill of health, he’s ready to take charge of the defense and make a significant impact in 2026.
