The Crimson Tide are rolling, and they’re doing it with depth, grit, and now - a little more firepower.
That’s our girl.

Alabama women’s basketball improved to 8-0 on the season with a 79-65 win over Kennesaw State on Monday night at Coleman Coliseum. It wasn’t always pretty, and it wasn’t always smooth, but head coach Kristy Curry’s squad found a way to get the job done - even in a game that felt a little off rhythm.
“It was a little bit chaotic, a little bit of a different environment,” Curry said postgame. “But I thought our kids really weathered it and found a way to win.”
That resilience was on full display, especially from guard Jessica Timmons, who poured in 21 points to lead all scorers. It marked her third 20-point performance of the season, and she continues to be a steady offensive engine for the Tide. Timmons also pulled down seven rebounds, matching forward Naomi Jones for the team high, as Alabama dominated the glass with a 42-25 rebounding advantage.
Senior guard Karly Weathers added 13 points and six rebounds, showing once again how valuable her veteran presence is in close, physical matchups. Alabama’s ability to control the boards and get second-chance looks was a major difference-maker against a scrappy Kennesaw State team that came into the game 4-2.
But beyond the box score, the night marked a significant moment for Alabama’s rotation - the return of Waiata Jennings.

The Baylor transfer made her Crimson Tide debut after missing the first seven games of the season due to injury. Jennings logged three minutes and got up a pair of three-point attempts. While she didn’t connect this time, her presence alone is a welcome sight for a team that’s already clicking but knows it’ll need all hands on deck as the season ramps up.

Jennings, a native of New Zealand, shot 34.3% from deep last season with the Bears. Once she gets her legs under her, she could be a real weapon in Alabama’s perimeter attack - especially in games where spacing and shot-making become critical in SEC play.
Monday’s game also served as a community showcase, with local schools and educators in attendance. Curry acknowledged their support, saying, “I just really appreciate all the amazing local schools for coming and supporting today. We have so many administrators and teachers that have supported this event and seen it grow.”

Now, Alabama turns its attention to a bigger test: Clemson. The Tigers come to town Thursday for the ACC-SEC Challenge, with tipoff set for 6 p.m.
CT at Coleman Coliseum. It’s the kind of matchup that can reveal a lot about where this team stands - and how far it can go.
But for now, the Tide are unbeaten, gaining momentum, and getting healthier. That’s a dangerous combination for anyone standing in their way.
