Alabama will send a familiar mix of star power and rising responsibility to 2026 SEC Media Days, with wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, safety Bray Hubbard and cornerback Zabien Brown set to represent the Crimson Tide in Tampa on Wednesday, July 22.
Kalen DeBoer is less than 10 days away from taking the stage himself as he prepares to preview Alabama heading into his third season as head coach. There will be plenty to unpack when he gets there. The quarterback competition between redshirt junior Austin Mack and redshirt freshman Keelon Russell figures to draw attention, and so will the reshaped offensive and defensive lines, the newcomers pushing for roles and the latest injury updates.
The three players joining him each bring a different kind of resume.
Coleman-Williams enters his junior year with a fresh approach after a freshman season that turned him into a national name and landed him on the cover of a renowned video game franchise. His sophomore year did not match that breakout, but DeBoer has repeatedly pointed to the 19-year-old’s growth throughout the offseason, both on the field and away from it.
Hubbard was one of Alabama’s most productive defenders in 2025. He led the team with four interceptions and ranked third with 79 total tackles.
He also added three forced fumbles, eight pass breakups and two sacks. That production earned the rising senior All-SEC First Team recognition from both the AP and league coaches, along with Second Team All-America honors from the AFC.
Brown made his own case as one of the Tide’s most disruptive defensive backs. As a sophomore, he posted 39 tackles, six pass breakups and two interceptions, and both picks went back for touchdowns.
Those two pick-sixes tied for the most in college football, and the 149 combined return yards were the most in the SEC. Brown was targeted sparingly, which is usually the sign of a corner opposing quarterbacks want to avoid, and that should remain the case in 2026.
There’s also a strong chance all three leave Tampa with captain status in their future. Alabama’s SEC Media Days representatives have often ended up wearing the “C” later on, including two of the three players from 2012 through 2018.
The pattern has held in other years too: all three were eventually named captains in 2022 and 2024, while the 2019 and 2023 groups produced one-for-three. In 2025, Deontae Lawson and Tim Keenan III both went on to receive the “C” as well.

Alabama Just Landed A Massive Piece Out Of Buckeye Country
Alabamas early push in the 2028 cycle is already paying off, and the latest addition gives the Crimson Tide another important building block up front. Anthony Blalock Jr., a four-star offensive lineman from Youngstown, Ohio, gives Alabama six commitments and keeps the Tide sitting atop the composite rankings as the class starts to take shape.
The win matters not just because of the talent, but because Alabama went into Buckeye country and came away with a prospect it clearly valued. Still, this is the part of recruiting where nothing is final, and Ohio State is expected to stay involved as the process moves forward. Alabama has been aggressive early under Kalen DeBoer, but as always with commitments this far out, the real test comes in whether the Tide can keep the momentum going. [Read more 🡒]
Alabama's Receiver Board Just Got More Intriguing At A Critical Time
Alabamas wide receiver board for the 2027 cycle is getting a little more interesting by the day, and Ja'Hyde Brown is a big reason why. The four-star prospect has surged in the updated Rivals300, jumping from No. 252 overall to No. 66, a rise that puts him squarely on the radar as the Crimson Tide continue sorting through their options at the position.
Brown is currently committed to Louisville, but Alabamas staff is still evaluating alternatives as it tracks the wider receiver market. That matters with five-star target Monshun Sales drawing plenty of attention and another Tide commitment, Osani Gayles, also climbing in the rankings, giving Alabama a clearer sense of how much talent is available if it decides to keep pressing on multiple fronts. Alabamas Biggest Recruiting Wins Put DeBoer In A Saban-Level Debate
Alabamas recruiting story in the 2020s is really a tale of two eras, with Nick Sabans late run still setting the standard and Kalen DeBoer already leaving a mark of his own. The list of impact additions stretches from Will Anderson Jr. and Bryce Young to newer names like EJ Crowell, Keelon Russell and Ryan Coleman-Williams, giving the Crimson Tide a mix of proven stars and high-upside bets that keeps the roster conversation lively.
Bryce Young still gets the slight edge over Anderson in the decade-long debate because of the way he changed Alabama at quarterback and capped it with a Heisman Trophy. But DeBoers early recruiting wins have added a fresh layer to the discussion, especially with prospects like Russell and Crowell giving the Tide reasons to believe the pipeline remains as dangerous as ever, even as the program moves deeper into a new coaching era.
