Georgia’s trip to Alabama brings together two teams that have made a habit of producing tight, high-level games when they meet. Saturday’s showdown between the No.
6 Crimson Tide and No. 2 Bulldogs fits that recent pattern, and after spending the week watching every snap Georgia has played this season, one thing stands out: the Bulldogs have been overwhelming teams without needing to show much weakness.
Kirby Smart’s group has already put away Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt by an average of 38 points. Those opponents haven’t exactly offered a perfect measuring stick, but Georgia’s control in those games still revealed plenty about what Alabama is about to see.
The clearest answer is Gunner Stockton. The term “game manager” usually gets used like an insult, but Stockton fits it in the best possible way. He gives Georgia exactly what it needs, and right now he’s doing it at a level that looks as polished, as mature, and as disciplined as anyone in the country.
Stockton has thrown for 1,049 yards with 13 touchdowns and one interception. He leads the SEC in completion percentage at 73.5% and passer rating at 202.0. One of the biggest questions in the game will be whether Alabama can force him into a mistake, and that becomes even tougher if rain enters the picture.
There’s also the simple fact that this isn’t the kind of quarterback Alabama has been dealing with so far. Stockton has already shown those traits against some of the SEC’s better competition, and he doesn’t seem like a player whose effectiveness changes much depending on the quality of the opponent. He looks built to keep Georgia on schedule and put the Bulldogs in position to win.
Defensively, Chris Cole left the biggest impression over the five-game sample. He was the Georgia player who stood out the most on film, and it’s easy to understand why there’s buzz about him possibly going in the top half of the first round. His pursuit and recognition are elite, and he has the kind of presence that jumps out every time he’s around the ball.
Alabama’s inside linebackers, Caleb Woodson and Luke Metz, have been a strength for the Tide, but Georgia’s defense shows what the highest level at that spot really looks like. Cole is the centerpiece of an elite unit, and Saturday gives him a chance to match up in space with EJ Crowell, who has flashed his own ability to make defenders miss.
Raylen Wilson adds another layer to that group. He leads Georgia with 24 tackles and two tackles for loss, and Saturday will be his fifth game against Alabama.
Tide fans will remember his 15-tackle performance in the 2023 SEC Championship Game, and he has kept developing since then. He should hear his name called on Day Two of April’s draft.
Together, Cole and Wilson carry on the Bulldogs’ line of great linebackers. They sit at the center of Glenn Schumann’s defense, and they look like the one position group on either side of the ball that can be trusted to take over.
After watching 300 minutes of Georgia football, the feeling is hard to shake that this could turn into something special. Neither team has really been pushed the way it will be pushed on Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium, and that means there’s a lot to learn about both sides.
Whatever happens, the matchup feels like one that could deliver an instant classic. It should leave people talking about two legitimate national championship contenders after the final whistle.

Nick Saban's Music Taste Has Alabama Fans Doing Double Takes
Nick Sabans public image has always leaned more toward discipline than downtime, so Kristen Sabans latest reveal gave Alabama fans a different kind of glimpse into the longtime coach. She shared a Spotify playlist called Nick on the AUX, built from songs she says were selected by her father, and the mix is broad enough to make even a few Crimson Tide loyalists do a double take.
The playlist reaches across generations and genres, with names like The Rolling Stones, Eagles, The Who, Johnny Cash and Elton John all in the mix. The timing is notable, too, arriving as ESPNs original documentary Saban is set to debut, adding another layer to a figure Alabama fans have spent years trying to read beyond the sideline persona. Alabama Faces Key Availability Calls Ahead Of Georgia Showdown
With the Southeastern Conference now requiring injury reports for conference games across football, basketball and baseball, Alabamas weekly lead-up to Georgia carries a little more public intrigue than usual. Coach Kalen DeBoer offered a snapshot of where several players stand as the Crimson Tide prepare for one of the biggest games on the schedule, with tight end Josh Ford still working back from arm surgery and right tackle Jayvin James trending toward a return.
The rest of the report leaves Alabama with some decisions to monitor as the week goes on, since a handful of players are still listed as questionable or out for the season. The SEC-mandated availability update is set to keep changing as kickoff gets closer, so the Tides final status report could shape how they line up against Georgia and how much flexibility DeBoer has on both sides of the ball. Jalen Hurts Faces Mounting Pressure After Eagles Offensive Line Shakeup
The Eagles offensive line has entered a period of transition, and Jalen Hurts is now being asked to steady everything around it. Lane Johnsons retirement came shortly after he was scratched from a game against the Los Angeles Rams, and the front five took another hit when Philadelphia dealt center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens for draft picks. For a quarterback who has long been tied to protecting the structure of the offense, the changes carry obvious weight.
Hurts addressed the reshaped line publicly and said he believes the group can still get better under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. For Alabama fans who followed Hurts from his college days, it is another reminder of how often his value is measured not just by production, but by how well he can navigate uncertainty around him. The Eagles are trying to rebuild some stability in a suddenly different environment, and Hurts will be central to whether that happens quickly enough. [Read more 🡒]
