Alabama’s last tune-up before the 2026-27 regular season brings the Tide right back into the state’s biggest basketball spotlight. On Thursday night in Birmingham, Alabama will face Auburn in the final preseason exhibition, a meeting being billed as “The Feud.”
The event is being hosted by Knight Eady, the same group behind Ballin in Boutwell last week, and it gives the state’s two flagship programs one more run before games start to count for real.
Alabama coach Nate Oats made clear at SEC Tipoff on Oct. 13 that this kind of matchup carries its own charge.
"In the state of Alabama, it doesn't get any better than an Alabama-Auburn game," Alabama head coach Nate Oats said at SEC Tipoff on Oct. 13.
"If you haven't got your ticket to the Alabama-Auburn game a week from this Thursday, we'll be right here at Legacy Arena in Birmingham. Make sure you get it.
It will be great.
"I think having the third exhibition game, opening that up. Huge kudos to Coach Pearl for wanting to get that game on.
I think the intensity of that game, the fact that it doesn't count, I don't think anybody in the game is going to realize the record doesn't go on your record. It's going to count in the state of Alabama."
For fans planning to follow along, the game will stream on Knight Eady’s YouTube channel. Karl Ravech will handle play-by-play, with Daymeon Fishback and Richard Hendrix as analysts. On the radio side, the Crimson Tide Sports Network will carry the broadcast with Chris Stewart on play-by-play and Bryan Passink as analyst, and the pregame show begins one hour before tipoff.
On paper, Alabama enters at 2-0 in preseason exhibitions, while Auburn is 0-1. The Crimson Tide also own the all-time series, 103-69, in a rivalry that started on Feb.
28, 1924. Alabama has won the last three meetings, though this exhibition does not count.
In neutral-site games, the rivals are tied 12-12.
The most recent real game between the programs came on March 7, when Alabama beat Auburn 96-84 in the regular-season finale at home. That win locked up the SEC’s 2-seed for Alabama, which needed the victory to break a standings tie with Arkansas, now the 3-seed.
Aden Holloway and Labaron Philon Jr. each scored 21 points, helping Alabama attack the lane effectively. The Tide outscored Auburn 58-32 in the paint and controlled the boards 42-28, including 19 offensive rebounds that turned into 24 second-chance points.
Alabama’s most recent exhibition outing came in Birmingham on Oct. 15, when it beat Ole Miss 92-84 at Ballin in Boutwell. The Tide led the glass 24-14 but committed 12 turnovers, which kept the game tight as Alabama held just a 42-39 halftime edge. The second half belonged to the Tide, who came out strong and forced the Rebels to chase.
Amari Allen led Alabama with 19 points and five assists while adding six rebounds. Cole Cloer scored 18, London Jemison had 13, Qayden Samuels and Jamarion Davis Fleming each finished with 12, and Drew Fielder added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Auburn’s last exhibition also took place at Boutwell Auditorium on Oct. 15, and the Tigers fell 82-71 to Florida State. Tahaad Pettiford scored 20 points, while Adam Olsen added 11 and Kevin Overton chipped in 10. But Pettiford and Overton combined to shoot 9 of 33 from the field, and Florida State had four players between 13 and 19 points, including Marcis Ponder, who posted 13 points and 21 rebounds, nine of them offensive, in 25 minutes.

Alabama Pass Rush Problem Could Follow The Tide Into Texas A&M
The pass rush has become one of the more uncomfortable storylines around Alabama after the Tide managed just one sack in each of their last two games, both losses. Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack has pointed to the same issue showing up again and again, with recent opponents getting the ball out quickly enough to blunt pressure before it can turn into a disruption.
Now the challenge appears to be waiting again with Texas A&M, which could bring a similar approach when it meets Alabama. If the Aggies are able to spread the ball around and keep the quarterback moving through reads fast, the Tide will need to find a way to create heat without relying on a rush that has not consistently gotten home lately. Alabama Faces Growing Pressure To Stop This Slide Fast
Alabama heads into its matchup with Texas A&M carrying an unfamiliar weight after consecutive losses, the programs first back-to-back regular-season defeats since 2007. For a team used to setting the tone in the SEC, the timing could hardly be worse, especially with offensive issues starting up front and showing up in the passing game. The Tide have little margin to let the skid linger.
Texas A&M brings its own questions, but the Aggies have at least shown signs of improvement on defense, which only adds to the challenge Alabama is facing. Both teams need a response to steady their SEC standing, and for Alabama the pressure is about more than one result. It is about whether the slide gets stopped now, before it becomes something harder to shake. [Read more 🡒]
Alabama Finally Has A Real Opening For AK Dear
AK Dear has spent most of the 2026 season waiting for his chance, and so far it has been a quiet one. The Alabama running back has only two carries for six yards, a number that reflects how limited his role has been since the season began, even after he arrived with the kind of recruiting buzz that made him one of the more intriguing young players on the roster.
Now the path looks a little more open. With EJ Crowell dealing with a knee injury and Alabama struggling to get much going on the ground, Dear could be in line for a bigger workload when the Crimson Tide face Texas A&M. He flashed promise in his debut season, but his usage has dipped this year, and this matchup may finally give Alabama a better look at what he can do with real touches. [Read more 🡒]
