Woodson's track record speaks volumes. Over 35 games with the Hokies, he's logged more than 1,200 snaps, racking up 152 tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss, and two sacks. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 238 pounds, he immediately becomes the most seasoned player in the Crimson Tide's linebacker room, with Cayden Jones next in line with 83 career snaps.
Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack sees Woodson as a "professional" and "business-like" player who is committed to being a great teammate and leader. In just four practices, Woodson is already setting the standard.
"We're really focusing on effort and finish," Wommack said after the fourth spring practice on March 13. "Our defense plays hard, but we want to elevate it to an elite level.
When you watch a nationally-televised game, our effort and finish should stand out. Caleb is setting the tone for that right now."
Woodson isn't disrupting Alabama's path; he's enhancing it. He's a crucial part of a unit that's learning and growing together. With one season left, Wommack notices something special in Woodson: a hunger to excel.
