Kalen DeBoer faced a tough call this offseason, making the decision to part ways with some offensive assistant coaches. But he’s not shying away from the challenge, bringing in fresh faces that could very well elevate Alabama’s game.
In his first media session after Tuesday’s practice, DeBoer shared his thoughts on the Crimson Tide's new offensive assistants. Alabama has welcomed Derrick Nix, Richard Owens, and Adrian Klemm to the fold.
Nix, previously with Auburn, steps in to coach wide receivers. Owens takes charge of the tight ends, filling the spot left by Bryan Ellis, who’s now the quarterbacks coach following Nick Sheridan’s move to Michigan State. Adrian Klemm has joined as the offensive line coach after a stint at USC.
DeBoer is clearly impressed with the trio’s mindset and their potential to steer Alabama back to championship glory.
“It’s their experience that stands out,” DeBoer remarked about Klemm, Nix, and Owens. “Whether it’s at the college level or in the NFL, they know what excellence looks like.
What impresses me most is their efficiency. Great coaches can pinpoint an issue, communicate it clearly, and make it click for the players.”
The players are reportedly adapting well, thanks to the expertise these coaches bring to the table. It’s going to be fascinating to watch how their influence unfolds on the field this season.
