Two SEC quarterback commits will take center stage when Alabama lines up against Mississippi in December.
Thompson’s Trent Seaborn, an Alabama commit, and Saraland’s Jamison Roberts, who is headed to Oklahoma, were named the quarterbacks for this year’s Alabama All-Stars. The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic is set for Dec. 12 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile.
Seaborn has already stacked up a historic resume. He became the state’s all-time leading passer earlier this year, and through seven 2026 games he has completed 78 percent of his throws for 2,014 yards and 24 touchdowns without an interception. He is also the reigning Class 7A Back of the Year.
Roberts brings a strong season of his own. The senior has completed 77 percent of his passes for 1,702 yards and 20 touchdowns, with just one interception. He has also added 240 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.
Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association director J.T. Lawrence said the selection process is a major undertaking.
“Our selection committee spends countless hours evaluating film, communicating with coaches across the state, and carefully considering each nominee,” Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association director J.T. Lawrence said in a release. “Their dedication helps ensure that the players selected represent the very best of Alabama high school football.”
Helena’s Richie Busby will coach Alabama this year, with St. Michael’s Philip Rivers coordinating the offense and Alma Bryant’s Bart Sessions leading the defense.
“I would like to thank the selection committee for their time and efforts selecting another quality team to represent the AHSAA and the state of Alabama,” Busby said. “The roster is loaded with future college stars and quality young men.”
Alabama is coming off a 40-10 win last year in Hattiesburg, Miss., its sixth straight victory in the rivalry. The state also owns a 28-11 lead in the all-time series.
Busby pointed to the talent spread across the roster, especially on offense. Among the other skill players are James Clemens running back MJ Gideon, who is committed to Vanderbilt, along with Prattville wide receiver Deshawn Hall, an Auburn commit, and Gulf Shores wide receiver Carter Davis, who is headed to West Virginia.
“Offensively, we have explosive guys in the skill positions with QBs that can get playmakers the ball,” Busby said.
The defense is loaded too, featuring Ramsay’s Karlos May, Thompson’s Cam Pritchett, McGill-Toolen’s AJ Pauley, Spain Park’s MJ Evans, Vigor’s Jabarrius Garror and Isaac McNeil, and Williamson’s Ellis McGaskin.
“The roster is very versatile with guys having the ability to play multiple positions,” Busby said.

Alabama Sent A Strong Message After That Ugly Georgia Incident
The aftermath of Alabamas game with Georgia turned ugly for reasons that had nothing to do with the scoreboard. A video circulating after the contest showed an Alabama fan slapping Georgia linebacker Raylen Wilson across the helmet, a moment that quickly drew attention for all the wrong reasons and put the program in the spotlight beyond the field.
Alabama athletics moved fast once the individual was identified, handing down a lifetime ban from future Alabama sporting events. The school also publicly addressed the incident, making clear that conduct like that will not be tolerated, a message meant as much for the fan base as anyone else watching what has become an increasingly scrutinized sideline and stadium atmosphere. Alabama Is Testing How Real Its Auburn Flip Push Really Is
Alabamas 2027 class is already taking shape with 15 commitments, and the current ranking sits 34th nationally as the staff leans into a smaller haul after back-to-back large classes. The Tide still have work to do up front, though, especially on the defensive line, where theyre continuing to circle a couple of targets who could change the look of the group before the cycle settles in.
One of the more interesting names is Auburn commit MJ Evans, whose scheduled visit to Tuscaloosa on Oct. 24 will offer a real gauge of how serious Alabamas push has become. The Tide are also involved with former Memphis commit Joshua Lane, who has visits lined up for Alabama and Tennessee, giving this next stretch a chance to shape whether the class stays compact or gets a late boost from a few key additions. Sabans Coaching Influence Just Showed Up In An Unlikely Alabama Story
Ryder Burtons latest moment in the spotlight came in a place Alabama fans dont always expect to be looking, with UABs quarterback helping guide the Blazers to a 30-17 overtime win against East Carolina. Burtons night included a 97-yard touchdown drive to force overtime, but it was his postgame comments and the little details around the game that linked the story back to Tuscaloosa in an unexpected way.
Burton also drew attention for wearing a backwards baseball cap during the overtime coin toss after helmet equipment issues, a quirky scene that stood out in a tense finish. Afterward, he talked about coach Alex Mortensen and mentioned watching a documentary tied to Mortensens former coach, Nick Saban, a reminder that Sabans coaching tree still shows up in odd, easy-to-miss places around the state.
