No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama are set for a heavyweight SEC meeting Oct. 10 in Tuscaloosa, with both teams entering unbeaten and sitting at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Alabama is coming off a road rout of Mississippi State, a 56-23 win that gave the Crimson Tide another jolt on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Keelon Russell was sharp throughout, finishing 16 of 22 for 285 yards and four total touchdowns, including three through the air.
Freshman running back Trae'shawn Brown led the ground game with 66 yards and two scores on 14 carries, while Russell distributed the ball widely enough that four pass-catchers finished with at least 40 receiving yards. Lotzeir Brooks topped that group with 96.
The defense also got into the act when Dijon Lee Jr. returned an interception for a touchdown, and freshman linebacker Xavier Griffin led the team with nine tackles, including a sack.
Georgia arrives after a 38-14 home win over Vanderbilt. Gunner Stockton completed 25 of 32 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns, while Bo Walker and Chauncey Bowens combined for 102 rushing yards and a score on 15 carries.
Through the air, Dwight Phillips Jr. and Landon Roldan accounted for seven catches, 132 yards and two touchdowns between them. On defense, KJ Bolden and Raylen Wilson each finished with seven tackles.
The game will be played at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and Alabama has plenty of recent history against Georgia to point to. The Crimson Tide lead the all-time series 45-27-4, with the first matchup dating to Nov. 2, 1895, and the most recent coming on Dec.
6, 2025. Alabama is 24-13-4 at home against the Bulldogs and has won eight of the last 10 meetings overall.
The last time these teams met, Georgia handed Alabama a 28-7 loss in the SEC Championship Game, one of the Crimson Tide’s roughest outings of the 2025-26 season. Alabama finished with minus-3 rushing yards and was missing multiple key players.
It was also only the second game that season in which the Tide defense did not force a turnover, the other coming against Oklahoma. Before that, Alabama had already seen Georgia once in 2025 and won 24-21 in Athens.
The atmosphere in Tuscaloosa is expected to be loaded. President Donald Trump announced Friday that he will attend the SEC showdown, marking his third trip to Bryant-Denny Stadium in recent years after the 2024 Georgia game and Alabama’s 2019 loss to LSU. Nick Saban and ESPN’s College GameDay crew will also be on the quad for the network’s weekly pregame show.
Kickoff week comes with full radio coverage on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, featuring Chris Stewart on play-by-play, Tyler Watts on color, Damion Square on the sideline and Roger Hoover as host.

Alabama Found Two Reasons To Feel Better Before Georgia
Before Alabama turns its attention to Georgia, there were a couple of encouraging signs worth noting from the latest game. Keelon Russell gave the offense a lift by throwing for 285 yards and three touchdowns while adding a score on the ground, and the run game got meaningful help from a deeper group of backs, including Traeshawn Brown and EJ Crowell.
Xavier Griffin also stood out on the other side of the ball, leading the team in tackles and helping make several key defensive plays. Just as important for a defense looking to steady itself, Alabamas run front was much firmer against Mississippi State, holding the Bulldogs to 18 rushing yards and giving the Tide something concrete to carry into a bigger test. Bryce Underwoods Struggles Leave Michigan With An Uncomfortable Week 5 Reality
Keelon Russells rise has become one of the more notable developments around Alabamas early-season start, and the quarterbacks recent stretch has only sharpened the attention. After throwing four touchdowns in the spring game and then piling up 10 passing touchdowns and 970 yards over three games, he has helped steady a team that rolled to a 56-23 win and moved to 5-0.
For Alabama, that kind of production matters not just in the standings but in the broader SEC picture, where quarterback play can change the feel of a season quickly. Around the country, other programs were dealing with their own storylines in Week 5, but Russells emergence has given Alabama a promising answer at the position and left the rest of the league watching what comes next. Alabama Has A Real Shot To Climb After Saturdays Top 25 Chaos
Saturdays college football slate did Alabama a favor, even before the next AP Top 25 poll gets posted. USC barely survived an upset scare, Ohio State and Missouri both had results worth watching, and a few teams around the country did enough to create the kind of weekend that tends to shake up the middle and upper tiers of the rankings.
For Alabama, the bigger point is simple: the Crimson Tide have a real path to move up if the voters decide the chaos mattered as much as the resumes. The poll will be refreshed soon, and with conference play still unfolding, there is a decent chance the order gets jumbled in a way that opens the door for Alabama to climb if enough teams ahead of it wobble.
