Alabama Faces A Huge Baton Rouge Test With CFP Pressure Rising

As SEC powerhouses gear up for a thrilling Week 10 filled with potential playoff-shifting clashes, fans won't want to miss the high-stakes action across the gridiron.

Week 10 in the SEC comes with a heavyweight feel, and the league’s schedule is packed with games that could shake up the playoff picture. Alabama’s trip to LSU is the headliner, but it’s hardly the only matchup with major stakes. Georgia goes to Ole Miss, Kentucky visits Tennessee, Texas heads to Missouri, and South Carolina and Florida both get home dates against ranked opponents.

Alabama enters the week at 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the SEC after a bye. The Crimson Tide landed at No. 5 in Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings, while LSU checked in at No.

  1. In the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25, Alabama sits at No. 9 and LSU is No.
  2. The Tide are coming off a 31-20 win over Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium after back-to-back October losses to Georgia and Tennessee.

LSU also had last week off and beat Auburn, 38-17, on Oct. 24 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Georgia-Ole Miss is another one that jumps off the page. The Bulldogs are No. 2 in the CFP rankings and the Rebels are No. 10, and both teams are in the thick of the race.

Georgia is 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC, while Ole Miss is 6-2 and 4-2. This is the fourth time these teams have met since 2024.

Ole Miss lost in Athens during the regular season last year, then pulled out a comeback win over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl CFP quarterfinal on Jan. 1.

Texas also faces a tricky road test, with Arch Manning and the Longhorns going to Missouri for an early kickoff. Texas is 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the SEC, and the game in Columbia will be its first true road game since Sept. 26 at Tennessee. Missouri is also 6-2 and 3-2.

Then there’s Kentucky-Tennessee in Knoxville, a matchup that carries more buzz than usual. Kentucky comes in at 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC, while Tennessee is 6-2 and 3-2.

The Wildcats debuted at No. 6 in the CFP rankings, with the Volunteers at No. 13.

Two more ranked SEC teams are at home Saturday. No.

21 South Carolina hosts Texas A&M, and No. 24 Florida welcomes Oklahoma to The Swamp.

Alabama Fans Should Be Watching This Spain Park WR Closely

AL.coms latest Best in Bama rankings put a spotlight on the quarterback-receiver combinations driving some of Alabama high school footballs most intriguing offenses, and the list naturally has Crimson Tide fans looking beyond the usual powerhouses. Thompson and Selma grabbed the top billing, with Alabama commit Trent Seaborn pairing with uncommitted Dedrick Kimbrough for Thompson and freshman quarterback Cole Moody throwing to Alabama commit Cedrick Simmons at Selma.

Spain Park also made the cut, thanks to Barrett Price and quarterback Nash Davis, a tandem that has become worth tracking for more than just local bragging rights. Price has been actively recruiting and already has offers from multiple colleges, which makes his profile especially interesting for Alabama fans keeping tabs on in-state pass catchers and the next wave of offensive talent. Lane Kiffins Alabama Problem Just Got Bigger In The Playoff

Lane Kiffins history against Alabama has been one of the more stubborn subplots of his head-coaching career, and it gets another layer now with a playoff game looming between No. 5 Alabama and No. 14 LSU. Kiffin has gone 0-5 against the Crimson Tide as a head coach, a run that has followed him through different stops and different stakes, and it has made Alabama a particularly frustrating matchup whenever his teams have crossed paths with the Tide.

Now the setting is even bigger, with LSU favored and the result carrying real weight for both sides of the coaching tree. For Alabamas staff, it is another high-pressure test against a familiar opponent with a familiar face on the other sideline. For Kiffin, it is another chance to finally change a storyline that has followed him for years, and one that would only grow louder if this one goes the wrong way. [Read more 🡒]

Alabama Faces A Brutal Road Test That Could Decide Everything

A trip to Baton Rouge in Week 10 already carries enough weight, but this one arrives with even more on the line because Alabama and LSU both enter with two losses. The matchup has the feel of a separator game, the kind that can reshape the rest of the season in a hurry, and the Tide will need cleaner football than they have shown at times if they want to leave with control of their own path.

Keelon Russell sits at the center of Alabamas hopes, while LSU brings a pass rush that can force a quarterback into hurried decisions and ugly mistakes. Add in the Tides issues with penalties and injuries, and the margin for error gets thin fast, especially against a rival that has made a habit of turning high-stakes games into pressure cookers.
