Jayden Daniels is back on the field, healthy again and trying to reset after a brutal 2025 season - but one short practice clip has already set off a fresh round of debate around the Washington Commanders quarterback.
The footage that leaked online shows Daniels in black No. 5 gear taking a snap from starting center Nick Allegretti. It’s a simple exchange, nothing more, but the moment quickly took on a life of its own once fans zeroed in on his body language. Daniels receives the ball, then walks away without any celebration, and that was enough for some viewers to read plenty into it.

The reaction comes as Daniels is working his way back from a year that never really got off the ground. But his 2025 season turned into a disappointment because of multiple injuries, and he was limited to just seven games.
That year brought a knee sprain, a hamstring strain and a severe left elbow dislocation. Washington eventually shut him down for the final stretch of the season to protect his long-term future.
Now, Daniels enters 2026 fully healthy and has spent the offseason building up his body. Head coach Dan Quinn recently said Daniels has moved faster than expected in his recovery. Quinn also said Daniels has looked sharp in the pocket and has shown great decisiveness during summer training camp while working through his progression routines.
The Commanders have handled his preseason workload carefully to keep him healthy heading into the regular season. For now, though, the conversation around Daniels has been hijacked by one practice snap and the online reaction it set off.
