The Eagles made two practice-squad elevations ahead of their Week 4 matchup with the Rams, bringing up tight ends Zach Ertz and Josiah Deguara.
Ertz is back up for the second straight week, and his role could again hinge on how Philadelphia sorts out the tight end rotation with Dallas Goedert still sidelined. In the Week 3 win over the Bears, Ertz was on the field for 19 tight end snaps, which was second on the team at the position.
Johnny Mundt played seven more, while E.J. Jenkins logged six fewer.
Ertz also turned his lone target into a nine-yard catch. He now has one elevation left; after that, the Eagles would need to add him to the active roster for him to keep appearing in games.
The more surprising call was Deguara. By elevating him too, the Eagles will have four tight ends available against Los Angeles. With DeVonta Smith out, Philadelphia may be leaning more heavily into 12 and 13 personnel packages.
Deguara has been on the Eagles’ practice squad since mid-September. He entered the league as a third-round pick, No. 94 overall, by the Packers in the 2020 NFL Draft and overlapped with Eagles tight ends coach and run game coordinator Ryan Mahaffey in Green Bay from 2021-2023.
Across 77 regular-season games with 12 starts, Deguara has 66 career targets, 53 catches, 471 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. Before landing in Philadelphia, he had a brief three-day stay on the Giants’ roster in late August.
Philadelphia did not place DeVonta Smith or any of the other five players ruled out for this game on injured reserve. That leaves open the possibility that the team expects them back before a four-week absence becomes necessary, though Smith’s hamstring timeline could still be handled cautiously.
The Eagles also passed on elevating extra depth at safety or linebacker. With Marcus Epps out, Andrew Mukuba is the only full-time safety on the roster.
Michael Carter II has been cross-training at safety after playing nickel corner and is likely to fill Epps’ spot in nickel looks, with Cooper DeJean next to Mukuba in base defense. The team recently signed Kenny Moore II and appears to be teaching him safety as well.
At linebacker, Zack Baun’s absence leaves only three healthy off-ball options available: Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., and Smael Mondon. Campbell did spend some time on the injury report this week.
The Rams also made two practice-squad elevations, calling up cornerback Cam Lampkin and edge rusher Darryl Peterson III. That second move does not look great for Josaiah Stewart’s chances of playing. Stewart, who has been starting for the injured Myles Garrett, was added to Friday’s injury report and listed as questionable.

Eagles Fans May Not Like Why Hurts Keeps Running Less
Jalen Hurts rushing profile looks a little different through the first month of the 2026 season, and that has been part of the broader conversation around an Eagles offense that is not leaning on the ground game quite as much as it did a year ago. Through five games, Hurts has been far less involved as a runner, while Philadelphias offense is averaging fewer rushing yards per game than last season, a shift that naturally stands out in a system built around keeping defenses honest with his legs.
Offensive coordinator Sean Mannion said the plan is not fixed from week to week, explaining that the offense tries to stay balanced between run and pass while adjusting to opponents and game situations. For Eagles fans, the interesting part is that Hurts rushing usage can hinge on matchups, fronts and in-game changes, which means the quieter run totals may be more about weekly strategy than any single reason. Former Cowboys Fan Favorite Could Help Philly At Worst Possible Time
The Eagles running back depth has thinned at exactly the wrong time, with Saquon Barkley sidelined along with Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby. In that kind of squeeze, even a brief injury stretch can force a team to revisit the market, and CBS Sports Jordan Dajani has already floated a familiar name who could fit the need without requiring Philadelphia to completely rewrite its plans.
Tony Pollard has long been the sort of back who can steady an offense with dependable rushing work, and his situation in Tennessee makes him a name worth watching if the Eagles keep looking for insurance. There is no move expected right now, but the idea of adding help before the Nov. 10 deadline hangs over a backfield that suddenly needs answers, especially if Barkley is able to return and the club wants someone sturdy enough to handle work behind him. Eagles Finally Get An Injury Boost At A Crucial Time
With injuries piling up ahead of Week 6, the Eagles finally got a little good news on the roster front. Philadelphia announced that Jakorian Bennett, Grant Calcaterra, Landon Dickerson and Eli Stowers have had their practice windows opened, giving the team a chance to start working four potentially helpful pieces back into the mix at a time when depth has been tested.
The move also came with a small addition to the practice squad, as the Eagles signed defensive back Dean Clark. It is the kind of middle-of-October housekeeping that can matter later, especially for a team trying to keep itself afloat while the injury list still shapes how it practices, prepares and plans for the next stretch.
