Jake Allen is set to bring a fresh look to the crease for the New Jersey Devils in 2026-27, and the new masks lean hard into a vintage vibe.
Sylabrush, the airbrush duo of Sylvie Marsolais and Alexandre Mathys, shared Allen’s latest designs online. The group is known for photorealistic goalie-mask artwork across the NHL, AHL and beyond, and this latest set for Allen features clean lines with a retro feel.
Allen is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he posted 17 wins, one shutout and a .904 save percentage. He also enters the new season as a well-established name in New Jersey, where he was acquired from the Montreal Canadiens for a conditional pick in the 2025 NHL Draft on March 8, 2024.
He later signed a five-year, $9 million contract with the Devils on July 1, 2025, and has since grown into a fan favorite. His resume already includes a Stanley Cup title with the St. Louis Blues in 2019, when he backed up rookie Jordan Binnington.
Allen has also carved out a place in league history since arriving in New Jersey. He became the first goalie in NHL history to record wins against 33 different franchises.
Off the ice, Allen has built a reputation for his charitable work as well. He regularly donates sets of hockey equipment in partnership with the Smilezone Foundation and NHLPA, and has raised more than one million dollars to support various charities and grassroots hockey programs.
The Devils’ goaltending group also includes Nico Daws, Jakub Malek and David Rittich. New Jersey finished the 2025-26 season at 42-37-3 for 87 points and missed the playoffs by 10 points.
The team also recently retired the “jersey” jerseys, the third jersey first unveiled on Nov. 23, 2021 and inspired by Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur.

Sergei Brylin Starts A Surprising New Chapter After Devils Exit
The Devils offseason shakeup did more than change the look of the bench and front office. While Sheldon Keefe was retained as head coach and goalie coach Dave Rogalski was let go, one of the most familiar names in the organization also moved on, closing the book on a long run as both a player and assistant coach in New Jersey.
Sergei Brylin has now surfaced in a new role overseas, where he has been confirmed as the head coach of KHL club Dinamo Minsk. He also has been handed the top job with the Belarusian national team, a notable next step for a figure so closely tied to the Devils modern history and a reminder that his next chapter is starting well beyond Newark. Devils Fans Have A Late Chance To Put Newark On Top
Newark has been getting its due in USA Todays 10Best Readers Choice contest, with the city sitting fourth in the Best NHL City rankings and Prudential Center coming in third among NHL arenas. For a franchise that has weathered its share of ups and downs, its a reminder that the Devils still have something plenty valuable working in their favor: a loyal fan base and a game-day atmosphere that has earned real national attention.
The only catch is that the voting window is still open, and the Devils are urging supporters to keep clicking before the contest closes on September 14. There is still a late push available for Newark to climb higher in both lists, and for fans who care about how the city and arena are perceived beyond the New Jersey market, this is the kind of small but meaningful race that can still shift in a hurry. Devils Enter Next Season With A Metro Advantage Fans Will Love
The Devils have spent the past few seasons leaning heavily on Jack Hughes, whose health and impact have shaped much of the teams ceiling, while Nico Hischier kept doing the hard work last year by playing all 82 games and taking on a major defensive load. Even with Hischiers offensive production under pressure, New Jersey still has a center duo that gives it a real edge in the Metropolitan Division.
Looking around the division, the Devils can feel good about where they stand down the middle. Hughes and Hischier are viewed as two of the top centers in the Metro, and several of their division rivals do not have anyone at that level anchoring the position, which gives New Jersey a matchup advantage fans have every reason to circle for next season.
