Chiefs Fans Will Be Watching One Matchup Closely In Seattle

Kenneth Walker III aims to lead the Chiefs to victory against the Seahawks with a standout performance that underscores his evolution since leaving Seattle.

The Kansas City Chiefs roll into Week 7 unbeaten, but the matchup waiting for them on “Sunday Night Football” is anything but easy. They’ll see the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, a team that also has a familiar face driving the conversation: Kenneth Walker III.

Walker already looks like the kind of player who can change the shape of a season. He powered Seattle to a Super Bowl title and has kept the momentum rolling in Kansas City, where his production has been outrageous through five games.

He’s piled up 665 rushing yards, the most in the league, with six rushing touchdowns on 106 carries. He’s added 14 catches for 95 yards and two more scores through the air.

On his current pace, he’d finish with 2,261 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns.

That’s the kind of start that makes this trip back to face his old team feel like a true revenge game. Walker spent four seasons with the Seahawks and had solid numbers there, but nothing like this version.

His best year before now came as a rookie, when he ran for 1,050 yards in 15 games. He topped 1,000 again last season with 1,027 yards in 17 games.

This year, he’s averaging 133 rushing yards per game and could reach another 1,000-yard season by Week 9.

Kansas City certainly has its own rolling offense. The Chiefs handled the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6, winning 22-6 in a game that never really felt in doubt.

Patrick Mahomes was sharp, with only seven incompletions and 272 passing yards, though he did throw an interception. Still, the headline performer was once again Walker, who has been dominating games for Kansas City in a way few players can.

The Seahawks do have help coming back in the backfield, at least in theory. Zach Charbonnet practiced in full all week, though he is listed as out this week. Seattle has clearly felt the absence of Walker’s kind of punch in the running game.

There’s another big name for Kansas City’s defense to worry about, too: Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He’s making a serious run at Offensive Player of the Year as well, with 49 receptions, 717 receiving yards and seven touchdowns through six games.

He’s tied for the league lead in catches, leads in yards, and leads in touchdowns. Last season, the reigning OPOY finished with 119 receptions for 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns, which only underscores how strong his start has been.

Chiefs Still Arent The AFC Team Oddsmakers Trust Most

Kansas City has opened the 2026 season 5-0, stacking up wins over the Broncos, Colts, Dolphins, Raiders and Chargers while looking every bit like one of the leagues most complete teams. The Chiefs offense leads the NFL in total yards per game and sits fifth in scoring, and the defense has been just as sturdy, ranking eighth in yards allowed and second in points allowed.

Even with that start, oddsmakers still have them chasing someone else in the AFC conversation. In the latest Super Bowl 61 market, the Chiefs are tied for second at +750, with Buffalo installed as the conference favorite, a reminder that the betting world is not yet ready to hand Kansas City the throne despite how well it has played through five weeks. Chiefs Have A Tempting WR Chance They May Need To Act On

Jauan Jennings has quickly become one of the more intriguing names to watch on the trade market, and the Chiefs are among the teams that could use a player built in his mold. After signing a one-year deal with Minnesota, Jennings has been on the field plenty, but his role in the passing game has stayed strangely limited. That has turned him into a possible midseason move, with interest reportedly coming from several receiver-needy teams, including Kansas City, as clubs around the league look for tougher, more versatile help on the perimeter.

For the Chiefs, the appeal is pretty straightforward. Jennings fits the profile of a receiver who can bring physicality and reliability to an offense that can always use more answers, especially when the passing game is looking for consistency. Kansas City is not alone in eyeing him, though, and the competition could matter if the Vikings decide to listen. The real question now is whether the Chiefs view him as the kind of affordable swing worth making before the market gets crowded. [Read more 🡒]

Chiefs Need This Xavier Worthy Version To Stick Fast

Xavier Worthy gave the Chiefs a much-needed lift in their win over the Chargers, and it came at a time when the receiving room needed someone to seize the moment. With other options sidelined, Worthy handled an expanded role and looked the part of a player Kansas City can lean on, finishing with a strong all-around showing that hinted at a bigger responsibility ahead.

The real test now is whether this version of Worthy becomes the norm rather than a one-game spike. Kansas City has seen enough flashes to know the speed is real, but the next stretch will say more about whether he can carry that same trust when the defense is keyed on him and the supporting cast is still in flux.
